Amberol launch new stone-effect planter

Stone is a truly beautiful material which enhances any environment. It’s also durable and resilient. However, stone planters and pots can be difficult to work with as they are heavy, difficult to manoeuvre and expensive to purchase.

We have long admired stone containers for their beauty and durability – and so we decided to make our own version just in time for your summer planting.

The design team at Amberol went to great lengths to create a container that looks just like the real thing – even though it’s actually made from recyclable polyethylene. We scoured the country for examples of real undamaged stone troughs to produce a suitable mould from, eventually finding one in a reclaim yard in Yorkshire and shipping it a hundred miles to our factory!

“We are delighted with the new trough - it has taken many months, some trialling and a lot of research and development to get the stone texture looking and feeling just right,” comments Amberol’s MD Patience Atkinson-Gregory. “We were determined that the planter should really look like stone, and I believe we have achieved that.”

The trough also has the Amberol trademarked self-watering Aquafeed™ technology which means that it needs to be watered no more than once a week.

“We believe this to be the first product of its kind in the UK,” comments Patience. “It has been designed to bring a new dimension to floral displays, adding variety and creating an historical feel in keeping with heritage style properties such as National Trust houses and historic public buildings. At the same time, it offers the durability and environmental credentials of recyclable polyethylene all with our self-watering technology to reduce maintenance cost and conserve water.”

The first Amberol stone troughs are ready now to enhance your displays in time for summer planting and Britain in Bloom.
