Amberol’s long standing customer Abergavenny in Bloom are finalists in this year’s Britain in Bloom competition and their beautiful planting is well underway for the Britain in Bloom judging taking place this summer.
The Abergavenny in Bloom group is supported by the Town Council, Friends of Bailey Park, Friends of Linda Vista Gardens, Friends of Castle Meadows, The Laurie Jones Community Orchard, and Our Lady and St Michaels RC Primary School, as well as local volunteer groups.
Sandra Rosser, Town Clerk at Abergavenny Town Council said:
“The Abergavenny in Bloom group has really come into its own in the last year to make the town a more vibrant and beautiful place to live, work and visit. To celebrate the NHS 75th anniversary, we are having a rainbow themed floral display throughout the town this summer, and fingers crossed the Britain in Bloom judging will recognise our enormous efforts.”

To make the colourful rainbow themed floral displays look extra special, Abergavenny in Bloom added some new Amberol Self-Watering Planters including the Amberol’s Beehive Tiered Planter to display a vibrant floral fountain of colour in town centre locations. As well as Amberol’s traditional large planters; Metre Square Planter, Promenade Planter and Parade Planter to create larger floral displays across the town. To complement their existing hanging baskets, Amberol’s Barrier Baskets were added to make the railings and signposts more colourful.
Abergavenny Town Council purchased some Amberol planters 24 years ago, that are still in working condition and Sandra Rosser from Abergavenny Town Council explains what is going to happen to them next.
“We have certainly tried and tested the quality and durability of the Amberol planters, as they have featured many floral displays over the years. They have withstood vandalism and knocks from delivery drivers. They’re made of tough stuff! We are planning to rehome the older planters around the town with organisations from schools to community orchards. These planters have been incredibly durable and we want to ensure they continued to be put to good use for years to come.”

Amberol’s mission is to make a positive environmental impact by saving water with its self-watering planter range and the unique self-watering system, AquafeedTM does exactly that.
Sandra Rosser, Town Clerk at Abergavenny Town Council comments on Amberol’s self-watering feature:
“Amberol’s self-watering system on the new planters has been an excellent feature which enables planters to remain healthy for longer, and they don’t require full watering as often as those without such feature. Currently we water throughout town three times a week, but we are launching a new smart tech project to use moisture sensors to monitor the moisture levels in the soil to see if they need more or less watering.”
All Amberol products are made from a long-lasting material that is 100% recyclable at the end of its use. Our black planters are even produced using recycled plastics which supports Abergavenny’s sustainability and climate policy and is why they chose black for all their new planters.
Good luck to Abergavenny in Bloom and all our other customers that are Britain in Bloom finalists and are being judged in the Britain in Bloom UK Finals this summer.
