Spring makeover at Ashurst Railway Station
Ashurst community gardening group has given a platform at Ashurst Railway Station a spring makeover, with the help from local Colbury Scout group who have planted some daffodils and tulips bulbs in Amberol’s self-watering Barrier Baskets.
Ashurst Railway Station obtained a grant by South Western Railway group, and purchased some of Amberol’s Barrier Baskets to be placed in front of the railings on one platform.
Ashurst community gardening group do various activities around their village, from litter picking to running community projects such as adopting the railway station. They are helped by the local Scout and Guide groups and they planted 1,200 bulbs last year! They have more bulbs planned for planting this year.
In January, Colbury Scout group kindly helped to install the new self-watering Barrier Baskets and ‘bolt on’ the planters, as well as filling them with compost and spring bulbs. They also spent time, litter picking down two platforms.
Amberol’s self-watering Barrier Baskets and Window Boxes are ideal for railway stations, bringing some vibrancy on railings, ledges, building frontages and flat rooftops. They are supplied with a coated toughened steel brackets for quick and easy installation with a safe and secure fixing.

Entering is very easy; just submit your photos of Amberol’s self-watering planters with your beautiful displays via the online form on the Amberol website.
Your photos can be taken anywhere but must include an Amberol self-watering planter to be eligible for entry. To identify an Amberol planter, just look for the black or green Amberol sticker near the base of the planter.
